Trudy Wassenaar

Trudy Wassenaar studied biochemistry at the University of Wales, worked in molecular microbiology at the University of Amsterdam and after doing her Ph.D. in Veterinary Bacteriology at the University of Utrecht (the Netherlands), she worked in the Medical Microbiology Department of the University of Mainz, Germany. In 2000, she founded ‘Molecular Microbiology and Genomics Consultants’ which services Academia, governmental agencies and industry world-wide. She co-authored a book ‘Bioinformatics for Microbiologists’, wrote a popular science book ‘Bacteria: the Bad, the Benign and the Beautiful’ and produced two crime novels. As a (co-) author she has been involved in over 140 scientific publications and for many years she served as editor for J. Appl. Microbiology and Letters Appl. Microbiology. Trudy lives with her husband Cees Passchier in Germany.
