
Marcela Hernández
Dr Hernández is a Group Leader and a Royal Society Dorothy Hodgkin Research Fellow at the University of East Anglia, UK. She was awarded her PhD from the Universidad de La Frontera, Chile, in 2010 and worked as an Alexander von Humboldt Research Fellow at the Max Planck Institute for Terrestrial Microbiology, Germany. Her research focuses on how microbial communities establish in extreme environments, specifically focusing on the role of carbon monoxide (CO)-oxidising bacteria. She previously served a Senior Editor of the Journal of Applied Microbiology and has been on the Editorial Board of LAM since 2019. Additionally, she has previously served as an AMI trustee.
