Applied Microbiology International (AMI) has announced it will be giving back to its journal authors by offering them a year’s free membership.

From April 1 2023, AMI membership will be offered to corresponding authors upon acceptance of their papers in AMI’s six scientific journals and they will also be invited to nominate another author on the paper who is at an early stage in their career and put their name forward for a year’s free membership.

Head of publishing Kathryn Spiller said AMI’s authors are invaluable to the organisation.

Life blood

”Our journals are our life blood - they are our primary source of funding for all our charitable activities, funding our events, our policy work and grants for our members, all of which help us to nurture and engage our community to advance scientific impact. Without our authors’ contributions to our journals our organisation would not exist,” she said.

”We would like to give something back to our authors and ensure they can join our AMI community and benefit from all the support they enable us to offer our members.

”We are therefore delighted to announce that, from April 1 2023, AMI will be offering a year’s free membership to authors of our journals. This pilot will run initially for one year and the aim is to build a broader community within the field of applied microbiology globally and strengthen the links between our journals and our other activities.

”We hope that this will encourage more of our authors to submit to our journals and support us in achieving our vision to solve the world’s greatest challenges through microbiology.”

AMI’s journals are Sustainable MicrobiologyJournal of Applied MicrobiologyLetters in Applied MicrobiologyEnvironmental MicrobiologyEnvironmental Microbiology Reports; and Microbial Biotechnology.
